Crossing the Vilcanota River on cable at Santa Teresa - Day 4

In 1998 a landslide destroyed Santa Teresa village and the bridge across the Vilcanota river (towards Aguas Calientes)

The city was rebuilt higher on the hill.

A new bridge has since opened making this cable transfer unnecessary.

The sun gate is at the upper left, the landslide on the hill closed the Inca trail for a while in 2006, the road from Aguas Calientes snakes up the mountain
